Samsung dryer DV316BEW/XAA
« on: April 05, 2013, 10:51:47 AM »

Dryer would not run.  Found drum belt off pulley which had a loose bracket where mounting screw backed out.  Cleaned rollers, pulley wheel, lubed with graphite, & appliaed blue lock tight to bracket srew & tightened up.
After reassembling dryer, power button does not work although I can hear it click at button when depressed.  Dryer will turn on when start dial is turned, will run initially but shuts down displaying X0 (don't have key for symbol so I use X) which the error code is open themistor.  Thermistor has 11.8 Kohms @ about 73 degrees.
Again power button will not turn unit off or when unpluged & repluged in will not turn unit on.  Start dial will activate lights.
Any form of diagnostic procedure to test PCB's?

well if you are getting an open thermistor error and the thermistor is good. Check the wiring back to the pcb.. if it checks ok then you are probably looking at the pcb. Seems odd though that the pcb would happen to fail at the same time the belt slipped off ;-\

Ask Samsung owner what symptoms were before unit quit working.  Could not get clear answers.  My main question was did power on/off work before belt was chunked.  Could not get clear answer.  When I go back I need to concentrate on thermistor.  Something throwing the code in there.  Did not unplug PCB when pulling front panel.  Unplugged power cord, door switch, thermistor, etc. to perform continuity checks.  Something I may or may not have done when accessing belt & pulley.   Obviously I am going to have to make a call back & double-triple check my work.  I never get in a hurry, take my time to get it right.  PCB boards can be confusing at times.  Again main question is "why does not power button turn machine on or off like all the other Samsungs do".  Thanks for you feedback.  will keep you updated.    Patricio
