Model #GLRG2940FS1, this new front load washer would intermittently not spin at full speed leaving the clothes wet at the end of the cycle. I put the unit into a diagnostic cycle so I could test it on a high speed spin and it tested fine, so I proceeded to check the error log and found an E48 had been detected. This error indicates the control could not verify the door was closed so it would not spin up to full rpm during the spin cycle. The door locks an this and many other front load washers use a latching mechanism to lock the door during operation. They will also have a door switch to detect that the door is indeed closed, and a latch switch to detect the position of the lock itself. That way, both switches must show closed for the washer to begin operation. If one of the switch contacts opens during a wash cycle, the unit will go into a safe operating mode and continue (because it has conflicting door position information), but it will never spin at full rpm, just in case the door is actually open. Because this is an intermittent problem, the best solution for repair (the course I took) is to replace the door lock
with a new one. Now it spins every time.
