KSCS25INSS01 Icemaker stopped working
« on: March 30, 2013, 01:28:40 PM »
I have a KSCS25INSS01 KitchenAid Refrigerator.  The Icemaker stopped working, I replaced the Ice Maker to no avail.  I then ran across a troubleshooting guide and can tell you that the optics check out good.  I tried jumpering holes T and H to bypass the bimetal and start a harvest. This did not do anything, so I could not check the diagnostics for 2002 Design Boards.  What should I do next?  I am thinking the Ice Maker is not getting some voltage or something.  Any advice would be appreciated.

The first thing I always check is the temp of the freezer. Needs to be 0-5 deg. F. for the ice maker to cycle correctly.

What state was the old ice maker in before you replaced it? What direction where the fingers pointed? Was it empty or did it have ice in it?

If the old ice maker did not fill with water and your freezer is in fact in the 0-5 deg. F. range I would check to make sure the water inlet tube is not frozen shut blocking the flow of water to the ice maker.

2 o'clock and the tray was empty.  The freezer is at the correct temperature.

Then I would check to see if the tube going to the ice maker is frozen shut by inspecting the end of it and/or by disconnecting it and trying to blow air through it.

Also how do you know the freezer temp is ok? Are you using a thermometer or just assuming its ok because the food is still frozen?

Thermometer, one of the first checks.  I will check the water line.  Any reason the ice maker would not work when  I tried jumpering holes T and H?

Make sure door switch is closed and optics are not blocked. You can also bypass the optics with a jumper to make sure the optics are not the problem. Of course there is always the chance you are not making a good connect with your jumper across T and H.

Ok I tried to ensure the water inlet line was not frozen.  I tried running warn water through the line.  Then I tried to pull out the line as depicted in the manual, only the rubber part broke.
.  How hard is this to replace?  Looks like this one has 4389174 - P1-Fill Tube W/Heater Kit.
