Samsung - DMT800RHS Pump failure??
« on: January 14, 2015, 10:10:26 PM »
Help?!

So our Samsung DMT800RHS is now not working.....again.....  It won't spray water, doesn't even seem to try (no audible pump sounds failure or otherwise) but if you cancel the wash cycle it will pump all the water out and drains fine. Wife had called the repair company due to having a warranty, to find out that the warranty had expired

Anyway, I wasn't home so I didn't get a chance to talk to the tech... but he said it needs a new "sub sump assembly" (on the quote ticket). Part is listed on the quote at $280.00 +tax + about $200 labor.

I'm pretty handy, cars, computers, all sorts of widgets... Just don't do appliance repair on the regular, but I know how much finesse can be involved....

Looks like maybe this is the part I need?

And this is how to access it?

Am I on the right track here? If I'm running into disaster, back me off the ledge.

I'm not scared to get in there and work on that dude, doesn't look terribly difficult. What am I in for here?

These machines seem to have so many problems I'd save the $480 or whatever and buy a new one, under warranty, and NOT a Samsung!

If you do repair your dishwasher and haven't had any drain pump problems thus far, I would advise you to keep a close eye on the plastic tabs that clamp onto the upper rack for those things that allow you to raise/lower the rack.

These tabs WILL fail due to the heat over time and they will fall down into the drain and will probably cause you a 5E error. If that's the case, it isn't difficult to fix--more just a pain. However, you'd probably rather avoid it so if you don't actually raise/lower that rack you might just want to get rid of those things or wrap them up somehow so when they break the pieces don't fall into the drain.

Wow you guys are good.  I was up till 12:00 last night looking for where the drain was clogged.  Even cut my finger on some sheet metal in the process.  I was not happy.  I gave up, but read your posts today.  I was first upset to learn that the plastic on the upper tray broke due to a design flaw.  I thought it was my kids being too rough on it.  To add insult to injury I looked again for where the drain obstruction might be.  I opened up the drain pump and found that cheap piece of plastic.

As if it was not bad enough that the upper tray broke due to a design a flaw, the broken piece caused even more failures.  Grrr

Nonetheless thanks for the tips and help.

Glad our prior frustration (mine was exactly the same as yours) could help you solve your problem a bit quicker than I was able to solve it!
