I have a customer who has these all over his house. He has one on every sink, dishwasher, refrigerator and water heater. That's how he found a leaking thermistor on his Whirlpool dishwasher.  I replaced the o-ring, never seen one leak there before.

Loss of power will drop out the valves, ie. fail safe if no power.
I have used a few of these, never had a failure, but costly, around $ 137
There are a lot of laundry rooms where a flood would do extensive damage, this floodstop prevents a flood when just a drop of water hits the sensor.
