LG Leaves clothes damp

LG dryer DLEX7177RM, customer complains that for about three months, the unit has been leaven clothes damp. She said that a warranty technician came out and changed the drum cause it was cracked down the middle. And ever since then the clothes have been co wing out damp. Even in the manual settings. I checked for continuity from the moisture sensor to the six pin connector and there's continuity but when I wet a cloth and put it on there the voltage coming out at the six pin connector wasn't in the specified ranges listed in the manual.

O i see. Im of no help! Lol. Press more time and less time while pressing power button. This is test mode. Open door, press play ONCE to activate moisture sensor test. Number above 250 is dry. Put hand across bars and watch for the number to drop as low as say 25 simulating wet clothes. My bet is other so called tech didnt plug in the single connector to the bars. Ugh.

If the customer is having drying issues, always check the vent for proper air flow.

Run the dryer with the door open and finger depressing the door switch.  Quick check---Place a piece of paper over the filter vent screen to see if the paper will stick to the suction of the blower.  If the paper doesn't stick, look at the venting issues.

Does the unit feel warm inside when it's been running?  Checking for heating.  If not, check the reset the high limit to see if it has blown.

No reset tht i am aware of on electric models wild? And this happened directly after drum replacement which requires sensor bar connector seperation.

A customer will definitely inform a servicer of NO heat whatsoever. Lol.

Whoops!!  A sign of old age.  You're right, there is no reset on the electric dryer. 

Even if the sensor bar connection wasn't connected, the time dry should've been a sign that there's a problem with the vent.

A strong indicator of a partially blocked vent system (in the home).

If the venting goes into the wall---and is not accessible---it's best to recommend that the customer contact a professional vent cleaning company.

I use a Whirlpool dryer vent tester---very effective tool.

Another possibility---though slim---is that the Heater Housing (box) may have been knocked out of position.

This would cause poor drying results in both Sensor Dry and Time Dry cycles.
Verify that the Heater Housing *round end* is fully inserted into the rear duct.

Moisture Sensors (2 metal strips on the lint filter housing) do not wear-out and therefore are not likely at fault---unless damaged/pulled out/snagged by something in the laundry during a cycle.

I've yet to find/encounter a failed Heating Element---so that is a low possibility.
Nevertheless---it wouldn't hurt to verify that both elements are "good" with a simple continuity test.


I've also never had a single Thermistor failure (on Blower Housing)---check the ohms anyway---at room temperature/77F----should be at or very near 8.63K ohms.

Confirm that the Door Gasket is not missing/damaged/torn (low problability).

If the vent system was found to be undeniably 100% clear/okay---I'd replace the THERMAL LIMITER and THERMOSTAT on the Heater Housing. There was an old Service Bulletin on this once----a Serial Number would help.

Let's assume that the customer made a slight error---and the dryer *actually does* dry well in the Time Dry Cycle (I've seen this more than few times)---clean the surface of the Moisture Sensor Bars on the lint filter housing with a ScotchBrite Pad.

If the customer uses Fabric Softener Sheets---advise the customer to---clean the Moisture Sensors after *each* load in which a Fab Soft Sheet was used in the dryer.
This removes waxy build-up from the surface of the sensors (wax build-up causes premature ending of the cycle by about 10 to 15 minutes).

The Moisture Sensor is *not* used during Time Dry mode.

Verify correct voltage at the wall receptacle. Long shot,I know---but let's rule-out something odd---like finding that the actual voltage is 208/209 instead of the required 220 volts

Ok, the camera Im using is the one on my IPAD. The serial number for this unit is 711KWQW02948. DOMAIN, your plenty of help Mann, and very appreciated help at that.
John 63- I should of never taken the customers word for it. I'll make sure to check the entire vent system and the thermistor and thermostat when I go back Monday. And the customer doesn't use dryer clothes, but there was hair lodged between the metal bars and the housing. I checked the dryer when I put it back togheter and it was heating up. Pretty good actually. One more thing that might help after I opened the door it kept running until I pressed the pause button or the power button to shut it off as if the door switch had no effect.

So when I first went, I thought that the vent in the wall went straight outside. WRONG. It goes into the wall then makes a 8-10 feet climb then 90's and travels about 12 feet to the outside. I went outside and looked in the vent it wasn't clogged but there was a lot of lint on the opening flaps and looking in the pip there was about a 1/8 inch boils up of lint on the pipe wall for about 2 feet in( that's as far as I could see) I'm gonna say indoor vent kit is the solution to that problem.
