Miserly customers
« on: March 19, 2013, 02:13:19 PM »
Some customers are just so mean it's unbelievable, went on a Dryer call today to a Creda condensor dryer with no drum drive. Got to the nice big expensive house and the first thing the customer says is I don't want to spend much on it,  ??? should have walked away then but decided what the hell i'm here now. Anyway took the top off & find the drive belt snapped, told the customer it needed a new 1 & he wanted to know why I couldn't Glue & Staple the belt back together. I eventually got him to agree to have the repair done & took the old belt away with me to stop him playing about.

Customer knew I was at the hospital taking care of a family member, still calls me that evening to ask when I have time to look at their ice maker.
Tell them I'm a little busy right now and tell them I will look at it the following Monday. The Sunday before we get a blizzard and no travel is advised. They call me at 10:00PM that Sunday night to see what time I'm going to be there Monday morning.

Then they got mad when I told them that I would not make it Monday because of the weather. Come one people, it's just a ice maker.

Yep: You'd swear with some of them it was a life or death thing. Looked at a Hotpoint washer dryer the other day that was tripping the mains, found the Dry element was short to Earth. Anyway I disconnected & Insulated the dry element wiring so she could use the machine while I ordered the part, that was last Thursday & since then she's been on the phone at least once a day. Come on people get a life ;D

Had a customer tell me he was going to kick my ass. I told him that today was his lucky day, and said "I'm in the neighborhood, would you like me to stop by"? That calmed him down. O0

There's a tendency to act like an inconsiderate pitbull on the phone (not face to face)---but upon arriving at the customer's home---a Jekyl/Hyde transformation had occurred :)

You're now interacting with the "normal/nice" personality...

Wen't back to the washer drier mentioned above & fitted the new dry element. Checked everything, put through a quick wash & went on my way, had a call this morning that the machine wouldn't do anything & the wash light was flashing. Anyway go back & look at it, only to find out that she'd turned the water supply to the machine off :bonk: Aagh I hate customers :)

Sometimes it's like a customer is just looking for a excuse to get something off the bill or not pay at all.

AJ: Think you hit the nail on the head with quite a few customers nowadays, but she's going to have to get up a lot earlier in the morning before that happens :)

Domain: Nope reckons she doesn't know what happened to it, she hadn't touched it ???. If I hadn't put it through a short wash on completion I might have believed her, but the machine won't do anything with the water off :)
