Pissed
« on: March 15, 2013, 03:40:27 PM »
This happens to us all, but we don't have to like it. I drive 25 minutes to my first call this morning, knock on the door. customer opens door and says, oh, they came yesterday to repair my dishwasher. I ask, so you apparently call more than one company? Customer says yes. I say, apparently you made more than one appointment. He says "sorry" I say, "so am I, thanks". >:(

Harold: I can sympathize with that mate, have been there on more than 1 occasion. At least they had the Cahones to open the door & tell you face to face (Doesn't make it better I know). The ones I really hate the most are the ones you get to & they won't open the door, when you get them on the phone a few days later they say oh the other guy fixed it & hang up. Hey we're only the repairman, they mess us about they don't care >:(

That sucks.

For me, I do not drive to a customers house without having first spoken to them on the phone that day, unless I have some previous experience with, or some other reason to trust that customer. Saves gas and time and helps me prepare for the trip.

customer would call several pizza places
and only accept the one that gets there first...

If they ain't got the gumption to call you back they ought to at least buy you some gas.

This is one good thing about warranty work..i bill for service call anyways. What gets me is when they tell me " your company could only get to me in 2 weeks". I show them where they called YESTERDAY!!!

I had one years ago,   I called the lady 1/2 hour before going over there.   She said her dryer was broke.   When I pulled up into the drive,   I could see steam coming out of a dryer vent.   Went to the door,  a little kid answered and I told him I was here to fix dryer.    He said they got rid of the dryer.   (real creative answer.)    I tried calling phone right there,   no answer but I could hear it ringing in the house.     I wrote out a bill for service call,  and rang bell again and told him to give this to his mother.    I also told him (I figured she was right there listening somewhere ) that if bill wasn't paid,   my uncle was the district attorney (this was true)  and she would have to come to court and it would cost her hundreds of dollars instead of the 50 dollar service call.   On bill,  I wrote "Service call,   arrived as per customers request,  and was not allowed to repair.   She called more than one service company,  which is against the law, as I kept up my end of bargain and arrived ready to repair. ".    Before I got out of driveway,   lady came out running and paid me my service call.
That was the only time that happened recently.     Its really bullshit when that happens to us,   people are really inconsiderate.

I bill 'em as well.

The service call is triggered when I arrive.  If you cancel before then, no problem.  If I'm there, then pay me.

Pay. Me.
