Tool for removing/replacing clamp assembly on LG wm2487hrm

Aloha everyone,

First off, I had the classic 'OE' error message.  I followed LG instructions, but no luck.  Called Sears for service.  Sears came out and ran diags, but could not get the top open so they could not work on machine.  Sears said to get the machine open and replace pump would be $600.00 - yikes!

I then searched your forums and found what I needed to do the repair myself. - having read through your forums and advice saved me $500.00.  Buying the service manual and then the parts were under $100.00. 

FYI - getting the top of the washer open took me getting up on a ladder and basically using the force of my foot to break the top loose. 

Clamp assembly - So my question is - took the machine apart and put back together.  Got the clamp assembly off the rubber gasket on the front of machine without a problem.  Getting this back on has been a challenge.  What tool do I need to take this off and put back on?

I'm going to need a new clamp as I've tweaked this one.

That guy did not know right from left. The outer spring clamp can be put on with hands and soap without the tool. The tops can be seized on tight such as yours but a light pry between panel and rear cabinet gets them every time.

For the outer clamp, I use my left knee at the left end of the spring to hold it in place. Then, work the wire into place. Basically, my knee is my third hand.  I have the inner clamp tool because I was told it is necessary.  I haven't run into a bad LG boot yet so I haven't needed to use it.

Sounds like the $ears guy gave you a high estimate so he could get on to the next call. Most $ears techs don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground. Glad you got it figured out. I have both inner and outer boot tools and use them every time. Saves me from getting hurt or scratching a customers machine.

The INNER tub spring tool is NEEDED. With both correct LG tools, a boot can be replaced in minutes. Period.

Have and use both tools, but it can be done without them, small plastic wood clamp and a cotter pin puller, not as fast, but usually available locally vs ordering the tool.
