Toolbag or toolbox?

Over the years I have used both. For the last few years I have been using a medium size plastic toolbox.

One thing I like about a toolbox over a toolbag is you can close it up to keep little helpers out of it.

Back when I worked for the man it was also nice that I could lock up my toolbox at the end of the day instead of leaving my tools out in the open in a toolbag. I could almost count on tools missing out of my bag if the boss or another tech got to work 5 minutes before me and then I would not notice the missing tool unit I was out on the road doing calls.

I also find it easier to sit on a toolbox then a bag full of tools. 

So are you a toolbox or toolbag kind of guy?

A while back I got one of them bags that fit in a five gallon bucket. Trouble is it is so dang heavy you cannot carry it.

I tried the tool bucket thing also. To bulky and like you say it can get heavy. The older I get the less crap I like to carry around.

Mine is a cross.  It is open like a bag, but it has stiff sides like the box.  I trimmed one of those bucket pocket thingys and sewed it into the inside edge.  Everything stands up in little pockets, there is a bit of center room for stuff, and there are pockets outside that house my cordless, lubes, glues and most common tools.

I cost me about $20 all together, and works great.

It does get a bit heavy though.

I have used a tool trolley but I found in wet weather the wheels would leave a wet mark on the customers floor so now I use a veto pro pack xlt, and I think its one of the best tool bags that I have ever seen and you can just zip it closed so young kids wont touch your tools while you work. http://www.vetopropac.com/products/model-xlt , I will never be going back to a toolbox, this tool bag has a center compatrment for a laptop or tablet, but i have a small plastic multi compartment box to hold all my electrical crimp connectors in it, on one end I have the veto pro pac Mb to hold my fluke 179 and Insulation tester. http://www.vetopropac.com/products/model-mb

I  O0prefer the tool box as it can be closed to keep out dogs, cats and cock roaches. you can sit on it and stand on it when necessary. works for me.

Sounds interesting, the bucket thing I tried had the pockets on the outside and thought to myself that's dumb.
Why don't they make it fit on the inside and make a nice seat/cover for the bucket.

I used a platt tool box for many years-currently have a Harbor Freight tool box.

Open bag with an xcelite roll up tool kit .That way I can do a quick inventory of my tools before I leave the home because most people won't call and say you left a tool behind .In general you leave it you lose it .

Been using a case like the Platt for about 20 years, but now i'm getting older i'm leaning more towards using a toolbag to save weight & cutting down on tools I carry in to every call.
