I need a little help. I tested an ice maker today.
Tested for line voltage. Probe in pins L and N - Tested 120V
Tested thermostat. Probe in pins T and H - tested open w/ 120V
Jumper in T and H to run the motor - motor did not run
Jumper in V and N to test the water valve - water valve did not activate.

I went to the water valve and got it to activate by jumping at the connector.

I ordered an ice maker but was puzzled why I couldn't get the water valve to operate by jumping pin V and N?

Any wisdom?

At first I thought maybe the freezer door had a switch that had to be closed for the ice maker to cycle, but after looking at the diagram that is not the case with this model.

Would guess the jumper wire was maybe to short and it was not getting jumped out as it should have, just a guess.

You can also jump power to the water valve by unplugging the ice maker and jumping tan & black (I think) inside the freezer.

I made a jumper wire for this from a old ice maker harness. Keeps me from having to pull the refrigerator out when there is nothing wrong with the water valve.

I replaced the icemaker with a new one. Everything works great. I have a couple of loose ends I would like to tie up.

1. The new ice maker did not come with a shutoff arm. I went to use the old one but could not pull the wire portion out of the plastic trip lever inside the motor housing without breaking the plastic. I ended up pulling the new ice maker apart and inserting the old shutoff arm along with the old trip lever. Does the shutoff arm come apart from the plastic trip lever without breaking ? How?

2. The new ice maker came with three harnesses. None of them matched the harness on the whirlpool I was working on. I ended up using the old harness. Has anyone run into this problem before?

3. After installing the ice maker, is there a way to run a test cycle even though the freezer is warmer than 12 deg.? (power off while I installed the ice maker)

The factory replacement ice maker for your model is part # 4317943 is that the part number you used?

1. Does the shutoff arm come apart from the plastic trip lever without breaking ? How?

I'm always able to simply pull the metal wire shut off arm off the old ice maker without taking it apart or breaking anything, it just snaps in and out.

You could jump out T & H on the control module. That would jump the thermostat and start a cycle.

one side Water Valve is already connected to N
you need to jumper V to L
