417.90802990 washer dryer combo

I'm working on one of these. Found it to have a burned belt. Customer stated problem was that it wasn't spinning. Replaced belt, spins fine while empty. Fill with clothes and water and then it won't spin. I'm assuming a brake mechanism may be stuck but can't locate it.


Any ideas?

I've seen these washers with small leak in tub seal where it corroded the bearing located under seal. This can cause a problem as you described. Used to see this a lot on the old maytags. Would also check that idler pulley is turning freely. Good luck. Let's us know what you find. O0

No brake on these washers. If it's burning belts it could be bad transmission.

Might be a bad idler wheel. That is what was wrong with the last one I fixed.

Also check for cracks/broken welds in the milkstool/support.
