BAD BACK?? KNESS?

Do appliance repair men have bad backs or knees? is this jobs hard on the body? could a person still do appliance repair when there in their 70's or older?  I'm thinking about learning this craft, I'm 28 now and in good physical shape.

You can wear a back brace when needed, wear knee pads, or use a pad when kneeling on floor, should be ok. 70 years old=should be retired when you get this old.

Use a pad on the floor,looks professional and you are protecting the floor. I carry 3 moving pads (3x6 foot) and they work great.

I don't plan on retiring,  I am 60 & still going strong.  If you are doing something you enjoy why quit?   Are you going to 'retire' from fishing when you turn 70?

I have a bad back and knees from working in an auto plant. Those Japanese cars and trucks are kinda small. Now i try to use knee pads and use plastic moving skids to move stuff around.

I'm not a professional appliance repair technician so, my experience is limited.

When I had to remove the front loader washer from my daughter's 2nd floor apartment, I used a small dolly to take the machine down the stairs. I suspect the machine weighs about 160lbs. I had less difficulty bringing the top loader replacement machine up to the 2nd floor. If you're going to have to move these things up and down stairs, I would use a good stout dolly with pneumatic wheels and a strap to keep the machine in place on the dolly. I would be concerned if I were a piano mover. Appliance repair? I don't think so.

As for crawling around on the floor and under cabinets, it hasn't bothered me to crawl under my cars and motorhomes to work on them. I'm 74 and prefer to work on my own stuff rather than pay to have some sap screw it up and charge me.

My son just called me today and was telling me about his recent oil change on his new F150 performed by the Ford dealer. They left the oil fill cap off and the engine compartment is now filled with 5 quarts of oil and the engine is not running properly. Should have done it himself.

Now, you'll have to excuse me...I gotta go take a couple Tylenol...my back hurts from installing a TV antenna on the church roof.

Knees kill me. I bought some knee pads today and spent 2 hours organizing my van. I am pumped.

Knee pads cut my circulation at times.  I've gone to a kneeling pad,  Comes in handy sometimes when I need to pray, why can't I figure this out. (:>)

I'm with Patricio, can't get on with knee pads at all. Kneeling mats are much better & I can fit 1 in my service case

Saw some foam kneeling pads at the dollar store for $1. Just a piece of styrofoam with a hole in one end for a carry handle.Near the gardening stuff.

I bought a pair from harbor freight for a couple of bucks. Like you said they cut circulation. I do not like em but they did do the job for me when I had to change a tire on the road.
