Start with the water valve first which is the most common problem and i like to use a cheater power cord after i ohm it out first to see that i get a good water flow.Then go from there.Basis first.Or first listen for a chick from the dispenser the micro switch or a hum from water valve while pushing dispenser handle. :)

This kit will work on most units. There has to be neccessary wiring. As for the best way to diagnose, simply remove toe kick and separate 5/16 coupler on water line. Push paddle for water, if it pisses on the floor then you know there is blockage in freezer door. Install this kit.
