Working for GE..... Any opinions?
« on: February 01, 2013, 07:01:48 AM »
I have a friend who is leaving my present employer (ya know the big blue vans). He is going to work for GE. He is asking me to give him my resume to pass on to them. I'm not sure if I want to work for GE. Anyone have any experience working for them? Opinions good or bad. Just thought I'd ask.  :thanks:

Anything is better than $ears. The only thing you have to deal with is monogram and advantium stuff. And the occasional re-labelled LG washers (harmony) and Frigidaire stuff.

G.E.Will pay you the most in the industry and you work mostly on G.E stuff which is good as things are crazy with all the new stuff coming out.But must say in the 7 years i work for them in Miami fla.I got laid off 7 years in a row for about 3 month until it pick up in May.I even look in to work for them again about 10 years ago and road with a tec in new jersey were i live now and talk to the guys and they said that they will lay you off if it gets slow and i been working for myself about 20 years and did not want to go down that road again. At that time 10 years ago they were going to pay me top salary which was about 50Thousand a years.I just could not do it after working for myself all those years and the pressure that would come from them.If your young i would go for it but i think at some point they will get out of the service business like whirlpool did.

Must say whirlpool parts are getting crazy to with some of there parts prices to like G.E.You got to check what you have on your truck and what the part cost you to replace it when you use it.

Thanks Dab, that's the kind of info I was looking for. While I know the product line as well as anyone, I just don't know if I can bring myself to work for a company that makes products I would not recommend. While working for my current employer has it's headaches, all in all in this district it's not as bad as some others have it. That being said, I think I would not really care to work there. Maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I like working on different brands, keeps things fun  :D. And at 46 years old, if I would happen to lose this job, I think I would just go to work for myself again.

Everything should be working 100% now.
