kenmore refrig 55539400 water dispenser not working

trying to find out why my water dispenser just stopped working

Check to make sure to dispenser tubes not frozen up in refrigerator section or frozen in the door.

I have but may not have done this for long enough. I was concerned it was something to do with a switch since I am hearing no clicking sound...as if the door was open and I was trying to get water. I really appreciate your direction. I try to fix on my own as best I can...hoping i can here too.

by the way I did check to see water was flowing from the bottom...and it is

What do you mean by, from the bottom?

I took the bottom panel off...unconnected the tube and water was coming out...seems no freeze from that direction but i cant be sure from the freezer door. It would be great if it was just a freeze issue but since i dont hear that click im thinking its another issue...thanks

I'm still not sure if you did this from the front of the refrigerator and disconnected the line were it runs up into the door or from the back of the refrigerator.

If you disconnected the line from the front of the refrigerator just before it runs up into the door and had water pressure there when you activated the dispenser then the line is frozen in the door.

I did from the front. I had water coming out but no preasure...just a flow. Should I use the hair dryer on the tubes inside the refrig.

Should I not hear a click when I push the arm of the dispenser.

Also I tried looking up your model number so I could see exactly what you have, but 55539400 is not a good model number.

Sears/Kenmore model number start with three digits have a dot and end with eight digits.

For example: 123.12345678

The full model number can be found on the model/serial number tag that is often located inside the refrigerator sections.

I'm guess the model number you posted, 55539400 is just the last eight digits.

Yes, if you use to hear a click before it stopped working.
Was the clicking you use to hear from the dispenser or the water valve at the back of the refrigerator?

Should I use the hair dryer on the tubes inside the refrig.

Would not hurt anything. If you have flow it's probably fine, but I have had flow on some and when pressure is added the ice plugs the line up.

At this point I would start troubleshooting with a multimeter and see if I have voltage to the water inlet valve at the back of the refrigerator when the dispenser was activated.

If you have voltage to the water valve I would first make sure it's not frozen up and if not replace the water inlet valve.

If you don't have voltage to the water inlet valve then I would check the dispenser area and the wire harness at the door hinge.

Does your dispenser have a 'lock out' feature? Is it turned off?

Looked @ diagram , most of the time,  control bracket pins break for switch, control bracket is part # 2180226. Two tabs on bottom of dispenser . Stick straight slotted screwdriver & remove cover. Then 2 1/4 screws will remove control bracket.
