You would need to remove the inner tub and basket in order to replace the bearings.

The first digit of the SERIAL NUMBER indicates the year built.

For a WM2277 washer----usually around 2004 thru 2007.

Open the door of the washer---grasp the stainless steel tub at the 6 o'clock position and pull/push the tub---if movement/noise (clunk sound) can be heard---the tub support is cracked.

If you don't find any visible signs of knocking, try this.  Let the machine spin up to speed and then start pressing on the door to see if that will stop the noise.  Try pressing on the side panels and corners if that will reduce the noise and let us know what you find.
