Magic chef ref md # Mcbr1020w. Little odd frost free box. I could use a schematic. Haven't looked at yet,but apparently unit is running fine until timer goes into defrost. At that point unit does not advance out. This box's timer is 502414000009 thanks.

Did a quick search through my resources and could not find a schematic.
Maybe another member will be able to locate one for us.

The simple answer is,if the correct timer is installed and it enters defrost but does not advance out of defrost the timer is bad. If the timer has been replaced with a universal timer,the jumper wire may be in the wrong position.

My concern is most timers do not fail in the defrost mode. I was thinking maybe this thing could be such an odd ball that maybe the advancer motor ciricut was open somewhere and only in that mode. Hence the desire to look at a diagram. Good research keeps me prepared. I don't like surprises unless it's my bday.

My experience is that most mechanical defrost timers will enter defrost mode and not come out.
You can turn the knob 1 click and resume refrigeration mode.

Update. As I suspected, this unit will not advance in defrost if the defrost element or it's thermal link is open. Odd design. Defrost timer manually advances ccw. Problem was an open thermal link attached to evap coil.
