Maytag washer makes aweful noise

I suspect the pump. On these models there is a shiny corrugated shim that comes out of the pump pulley and rubs on the bottom of the pump.

I agree with Bailey about the pump.

Your model washer uses drain pump part # 35-6780

Loud screech at the end is brake rotor and stator .

yep pump and it does not leak
