No heat Samsung DV218AEW/XAA
« on: December 27, 2012, 01:25:17 PM »
My dryer now has no heat.  There are no error codes, all modes of drying seem to mechanically work, but there is no heat to any mode.  I have cleaned out the venting system as much as I can and have verified that the two metal sensing strips are clean (have not checked the interior of the sensors).

What would you recommend?

Hi,

I would check the heating element, part # DC47-00019A

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE 23O VOLTS TO BACK OF DRYER FIRST.

The power is good to the dryer and to all modes.  I'm not sure how to check the heating element-- how do I do that?

To test the heating element you would check it for continuity with a multimeter as shown in the video below.

Yes---HEATING ELEMENTS on Samsung dryers fail---especially in situations where the home exhaust venting was partially/totally blocked.

If the HEATING ELEMENT tests "good" and you live near the shore (salt water environment)---test the THERMISTOR for correct ohms (10,000 ohms @ 77F).
