whirlpool front loader bad bearings

Has anybody heard that whirlpool is going to start fixing these bearings at n/c even if ther  a few years old??  Is anybody out there a whirlpool auth company that would now something about this??  tks   JPG

There are a few models that w/p will cover but in general their attitude is ...out of warranty to bad so sad .

Although I am not an authorized technician for Whirlpool, I would believe its a case by case basis with certain serial number ranges due to manufacture defect/workmanship. I have a dear friend with a kitchen FILLED with Whirlpool appliances out of warranty. When he called for repair and a possible concession, they were very rude and as RAH52 mentioned, Too bad, so SAD.

Its on a case by case basis. You can try to get them to cover it if you are persistent enough. Or are a lawyer and threaten legal action... I believe there is a service pointer about this.

Or just tell them it is a fire hazard ? For sum odd reason the mention of fire seems to get a great deal of reaction.

I had one recently that was 6 months out of warranty.  I had the customer call Whirlpool customer service.  Customer service called me to verify the diagnosis.  They sent the inner drum and both tub halves, free of charge.  I did the repair, they didn't require me to be a factory authorized servicer. I had another one yesterday, we'll see if it turns out to be the same deal.  Keep in mind, they're only supplying the parts, not the labor.

I'm thinkin these were on the list of  washers that w/p identified as machines with premature bearing failure .As I recall there is a special number for the tech to call.
