Kitchenaid ice dispenser problem

I have a 25 cubic foot side by side Kitchenaid refrigerator. Occasionally, actually quite frequently now, the ice dispenser door will not open when the ice dispenser pad is depressed to deliver ice. Ice will the clog the dispenser chute and slowly melt thus dripping water out of the ice dispenser. I looked at a parts list for my fridge and see a control card and a door motor. Should I replace one, the other or  both? Is his the right fix?

  POST MODEL NUMBER PLEASE. I hate being a parts changer in ANY circumstance. When you depress the lever/button for ice and the auger motor DOES work, that tells me the switch and circuitry is ok. I would check for voltage to the flap actuator motor/solenoid to determine if that is the problem or if the troubleshooting needs to go further...
