Hello ,I am new here ,I have been up all night cleaning water from the spraying water inside my freezer from the ice maker ,once I opened the door I just keep hitting flappers and whatnots to make it stop . This has happened one too many times now for me plus they are happening more often . Its an 8 or 9 yr old sears kitchenaid ,ksrk22xlbloo ,21.8 cu.ft side by side ,please help ,I am not thinking clearly enough to look anything up right now ,still in the panic mode .           Any help greatly appreciated ,thanks

So does it only spray water when it's trying to fill the ice maker with water or are you saying it sprays water longer then that?

Does the ice maker work?

Longer ,I caught it walking through my ( flooded ) kitchen ,the water did not stop running ,water was literally pouring out of my freezer through the shut door

Sounds like the water inlet valve is sticking open after the ice maker fills with water.
I looked up your model and it use water valve part # W10408180

It's also a possibility that the ice maker itself is hanging up in the fill cycle longer then it should. In that case the ice maker would be at fault.

It could be difficult to troubleshoot such a problem if it don't do it on every fill cycle. With the age of it and to avoid future problems you may want to replace both the ice maker and water valve. Your model uses ice maker part # W10190961

It's a easy job to replace the valve and ice maker, just make sure you turn off the water to the refrigerator and unplug it.
