As a packaging rep, I certainly understand manufacturers stamping different logos upon manufacture.  A previous customer of mine in the water softener business, made Kenmore, Whirlpool and GE softener from the same assembly line.  Different housings and colors, but all units pretty much the same.

The p/n numbers seem to be part numbers, maybe a part number for the instructions.

The installation instructions probably cover more then one model.

Sears/Kenmore model number start with three digest, a dot and end with eight digits.
For example, Model 123.12345678

On a top load washer I would look for the model/serial tag under the washer lid.

That washer is manufactured by Whirlpool. 

It's a Vertical Modular Washer, (VMW).

Lots of them around, easy to work on.

Appreciate the links - will do some reading.  Glad to know it' s Whirlpool.  That was my hunch while shopping since features were so similar.  Though $100 less.
