Maytag Washer Transmissions Part 35-5475
« on: December 05, 2012, 07:21:47 PM »
Does anyone know if this Maytag Transmission Part can be obtained or purchased? It is the most common part that fails in a Maytag Transmission.
This is the agitate/spin drive gear. The "Wings" of this gear break and makes the transmission useless unless you epoxy the "WINGS" back on and drill then epoxy the wings back on and reinstall. (I know this because my dad has been doing this for years!) But I want to see if I can find someone in this world who manufacturers this part. The Part # is stamped on the wing of the gear that reads "35-5475" - Someone has to know who manufactured it, if so please inform.

THANK YOU!

Maytag Performa - PAVT244AWW

This is common in most Maytag Transmissions.

Your best bet maybe to salvage one out of a used Maytag.

Here is the placement of the gear (picture). These gears can be repaired with a little patience and epoxy and will work adequately for some time. Repaired a few in my day. I also found that Whirlpool will sell this part FOR EXPORT ONLY out of the country. GO FIGURE ! TRANSMISSION SALES ARE UP I BET.

P.S. - FYI that bolt on the top of the gear is LEFT HANDED THREAD, If anyone finds the need to remove it to repair the wings that break off!

Those transmissions were never meant to be repaired. Is it worth it to do a repair that is not permanent? I take it that you do this in used machines that are for resale not customers machines.

Does anyone know how the input pinion gear is driven? Is it attached directly to the input shaft? My understanding is that there is a clutch spring under there. Would like to know how it works.
