Ain no transmission on this one, It has mode shifter. Early models would have problem of mode shifter burning up IF lid was lifted 30 seconds after begin of cycle. Normal mode shift is a few seconds. If lid is lifted after 30 seconds to add more clothes mode shifter stays energized 2 mins and solenoid gets burned up. Service Manual: HYDROWAVE

The solenoid doesn't actually burn up, it has a fuse link in it that blows. It is possible to get into the coil, jump out the fuse link and add an external fuse for protection. Otherwise, replace the mode shifter.
