Whirlpool dryer doesn't heat
(1/1)
albmopar:
Model LGR4634JQ2 Dryer doesn't heat. I opened up the view port and saw no glow of an ignitor or anything. Do I check the continuity of the ignitor first?
AJ:
I would check the thermal fuse first, part # 3392519
On a electrice dryer if the thermal fuse is bad the dryer will not start, but on a gas dryer it will start but not heat.
If the thermal fuse checks ok then I would suspect the igniter, part # 279311. I would check to see if voltage is getting to the igniter. If you have voltage to the igniter and it does not glow replace the igniter.

Most likely its the thermal fuse bad like aj said, after changing fuse, make sure is exhausting good to outside. #1 reason fuse blows.

To check the thermal fuse, am I just checking continuity between the 2 ends?

Yes, if you click on the part number of the thermal fuse I posted above there is a video you may find helpful.
