Anybody's work affected by the Hurricane Sandy?
« on: November 02, 2012, 06:18:32 AM »
Just curious.   I haven't worked for most of the week this week,  lost power Sunday night and just got it back thursday night.     More later,   have to try to get some work done.   A lot of calls cancelled anyway,  nobody had power.    I ended up getting a generator from a friend who got power back,   and at least had some power as of Wed.

How much have some of you been affected.    I guess I'll be working 16 hour days next week to catch up.

I have not work since hurricane .just trying to get gas is nightmare. Gas station local have no power. Going to a friends house to take a shower for the first time. Out in rural New Jersey and all my customers are 50 minutes east of me. Move here from my customer base to help my legal blind father in law and had to rent are house out 4 years ago. Have generator that was here when father in law build house 14 years ago   But does not do well. Going to fix that not going without shower is a bitch.

I live in eastern pa.  literally 5 miles to NJ from where i live.  Our local airport measured a 83mph wind gust the night of the storm.  It was rough here...  we didn't get much rain thank god, the wind was bad enough.  Lots and lots of trees down, and lots of power still out.  I was lucky and got my power back on on wed.  I missed 2 days of work. and today we finally got our computer system back up and running.  our  phone lines were out till today at the office, but my boss had the calls forwarded to a cell phone.  The lines at the gas stations are long, the hotels are booked full, and everyone is out of gas cans, generators, and chain saws.  Just so thankful I still have a house, and that my family is ok.

My heart goes out to all of you in the disaster area.  We just had rain, 70 mph winds and no power.  That is nothing compared to what I saw on the news.   I didn't watch TV for 5 days,  and when I saw what happened in NJersey, NYork,  Me and my wife were horrified.   I'm not going to complain about what we had here.    I wish you all well.   You have a rough road to go in the weeks, and months ahead.

hey guys really feel for what you are going through. have dealt with it here in nc several times. have found that business has seen a bump after eveyrthing gets straightened out due to broken neutrals and dirty power from generators frying electronics.
