Frigidaire Refrigerator FRS23H7CW0 not defrosting

here's what the current frost build up looks like, is this normal?
should i be more patient?

pulled out the plug to heater, thermo and fan
unhooked fan and heater
back-probed the plug for the wires to thermostat - read 9.9 when warm and 11.3 when in ice water
this sounds like a bad thermostat, right?

when i pulled out the fan for general cleaning a white plastic tube fell out with it - image attached - what is it and do i need to worry about pulling more covers off to put it back in place?

rather sure it was just Ohms

Manually defrosted earlier tonight - so pic of current situation not helpful
About 1/3 frosted - from right to left, top to bottom, in the standard way I've seen it over the past 3 weeks

I mis-spoke, mis-typed). The frosted over part starts in the lower right corner near where air comes in from the fridge

Leave the door shut for about 24 hrs then give ref temp and freezer temp and pic of evap with cover off.

Freezer temp - 5ºF

this is about 42 hours after a complete manual defrost

resistance of thermostat
straight out of freezer - infinity - i did triple check it
in 60ºF water - 0.6 M ohm
in 26ºF water - 1.5 M ohm

I don't think the coil is being defrosted. That first picture you posted of the coil viewed through the slots in the back cover is completely blocked with frost. No air could get through there. The second picture after 42 hours is starting to get heavy frost build up also. Give it another 48 hours and it will look like the first one.

Replaced thermostat.

48 hours later still going very well. Just a dusting of frost.
