It is hard to test a timer off the machine.Usually you are looking for a specific problem such as no spin. You would need the wiring diagram to tell you which contacts would be closed but without the dial and faceplate you wouldn't know where the spin cycle was. Also on these modern timers the wires plug into the timer in a single block so you have no way to know which color of wire goes where. I miss the old style of timers like on a Maytag. Even though there may be 20 wires to change from one timer to the next, the timer was stamped with the color of wire that was supposed to go there.
