Kitchen Aid dishwasher door latch

Sorry I can't give you a model number. I got a call on this because the door won't open. It is about 10 years old with a stainless tub and electronic board. I've worked on these but never for this problem. The latch handle is at the bottom of the control handle, connected to the latch by a bent rod. There isn't any access from around the handle area. HELP!

I've opened these with a wire coat hanger. Bend it into an L shape.  Slip it behind the door, turn the wire so the leg of the L comes up under the latch.

I've had success on some models by removing the 2 screws at the bottom of the outer door panel, sliding the panel down & removing it. Then reaching up into the bottom of the console & pushing up with a screwdriver to release the latch.

Thanks for the tip Scrapiron. I've worked on these dishwashers many times but don't remember having a reason to take off the outer door panel. I didn't know there were two screws at the bottom but that solved my problem. One side of the latch handle had broken off similar to the Maytag handle. Again thanks.
