Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Washer leaking water from bottom

I started a load and it spun and agitated just fine but when it drains it started leaking water. checked the water lines but nothing there seems to be leaking. it seems as though it may be coming from the bottom. I thought maybe the water pump but it works just fine... except for the leak. how easy would it be for me to fix on my own? I dont have the model number right now but i know that it is about 6-10 years old. still in good shape but this is the only problem i have had with it. also when it drains the water sometimes backs up from the pipes and up into my bathtub from the drain but i think this may be a seperate issue. any advise would help!

You need a plumber.I do not think you have a washer problem.What does the washer drain into?Fill washer up and watch the washer drain.If coming out of what is call a standpipe you need a plumber.Water should never back up in bath tub.

I am not sure what a standpipe is... it doesnt look like water is leaking from the drain hose that comes from the washer itself. but it drains into another pipe and is just kinda like sitting in the other pipe. not really clamped down or anything but does not appear to be leaking. we have lived here for 3 years and have never had a problem until now. it does looked kinda redneck the way its setup though :/

I have no idea why people say it.


How long you have had something and never had a problem until now really means nothing does it? At least not that I can figure.

Watch the drain hose when she goes into the draining and see if it overflows.
