maytag washer keeps running after water is drained.

I have a Maytag washer Model # MDB6100AWW.  Problem with washer - starts fine, washes dishes and drains the water - then the problem starts it is either continuing to wash with no water or it is continuing to drain with no water - this will keep going until the door is opened.  Dishes are clean and hot.  Thanks for any help.
