Kitchenaid microwave/hood , magnetrons burn out
QFMaint:
Thanks , I got it that time. Well , it doesn't show the detail I was looking for. The 2 red wires that connect from the inverter board to the magnetron, I may have switched connections. Does this make a difference? I see the mag marked F & FA , but the inverter is not marked. The Schematic does not show the marks.
I've been away from it for awhile and forgot to mark wires so here's what i did so far;
Replaced the mag, inverter ,capacitor & thermostat sw. above the mag. I put a cup of water inside and turned it on 1 min. and the water was luke warm. Put back in for 2 min. , luke warm again . Also heard no hum from mag when it was running. Thought I reversed red wires to mag so I switched them. Turned it on again and mag burned up , along with thermo sw. I also tried switching the wires to the capacitor before I tried the mag wires, but it didn't make any difference.
Your thoughts please . . . thanks

I don't do microwave repair like I use to and have never fixed one of these with a inverter.
On a standard microwave it does make a difference with the F & FA.
Back when I started doing appliance repair 1988 I mostly worked in the shop and the other tech did service calls.
Back then a lot of people would bring things in to get repaired. I remember having days were all I did was microwave repairs.
Things sure have changed in the last few years for microwave repair.

Sounds like bad wave guide.

Fact is - you get one or two parts burnt out in a microwave, not worth repairing. You can get a brand new one for almost the same price. It's not the like the days in the past where you had to spend big bucks on a microwave. Unless its a switch or something simple, not worth it in my opinion.
