When my dryer runs a lot of the times it trips the outside breaker to my home causing it to over heat and we have to wait 10 to 15 minutes to let the breaker cool down before we can turn power back on was hoping you could tell me know what would be causing this?

Circuit breakers wear out . Every time the dryer is used, the breaker also was used. Generally if the dryer had a problem it would trip the breaker right away.
Bad contacts in the breaker cause heat build up and it will trip prematurely. The only way to be sure is to use an ammeter. Dryers should be on a 30 amp
circuit. They will use around 22 amps when the element is on. I think the circuit breaker will need to be replaced.

Get an electrician to replace it. Do not try to do this yourself.

     I agree, JW, get an electrician if you are unfamiliar with an electric box.   
     However,  before condeming the breaker,   make sure the dryer itself is not drawing too much amperage.  This could occur from a variety of reasons - Motor overheating,  grounded heating element ,  drum binding,  etc.    If you don't have an ampmeter,  you might be smart to call a professional as an electrician charges alot of $$$$$$$ and then that might not solve your problem.    If you know how to use an ampmeter,  check one of the hot lines (usually a black or red wire ) on the incoming voltage.   You clamp meter around the wire.   If amperage is close to 30 (28 or 29),  then the breaker is probably not the problem although it could be both.     If its in low 20's ,  (22 - 24) amperage wise,  the problem is probably the breaker is weak.
