LG washer WM2487HWM - spin cycle has become very loud

My spin cycle has recently become very noisy - sounds like driving on the highway with snow tires. A relatively new development - over the past week or so.  It's is so loud that the door to the laundry room must be closed to avoid disturbing everyone.  Has anyone experienced this problem or suggest what the problem might be?  I'd like to avoid the cost of a service call

Sounds like a bearing is going bad.  That is a very expensive job.  You may want to consider shopping for a new washer.

check your rps sensor and control board first, a lot of lg's have 10 year drive warrentys.
