unballanced spin

Have a Whirlpool washer model no.GCAM2792LO0 that works except when it starts to spin,then it woubles and shakes and makes a loud banging noise.I have taken the case off of the washer and when it goes into spin I can see the suspension plate banging on the base assembly.The little pads on the suspension plate and on the base do not seem to line up,they are off and when the washer spins it is metal to metal making the banging sound.Also the pads do not seem to be worn out.What would cause this condition?Do I have to replace the suspension plate and the base assembly?Thank you for your time.

You need to work the pads around on the skate plate till they rest on the base pads and all will be well. Seen it.

I think your a bit off on the model number you posted. Maybe you meant model number GCAM2792LQ0

How old is the washer?

You probably already did this but make sure the washer is level and the front legs are locked in place.

Also make sure all the springs are still in place.

If the washer has any age on it and it's been fun up to this point then I would replace the skate plate part # 3946509

It will also come with all new pads.

I would also replace the three main spring, part # 63907
