dishwasher door springs?

I need to replace the door spring (or springs) for my Frigidaire FDB101SAW2 dishwasher, and I need to know where on the dishwasher (I was told on the tub, but I can't see where) it/they connect. I also need to know if I need a spring for each side of the door. I assume so, but when I pulled out the dishwasher I only found one broken spring. Finally, when I rigged the one broken spring to connect from the hinge to the frame of the dishwasher, and when I open the door, it stretches the spring quite a bit, but the door still nearly drops to the floor, and I'm wondering if we broke something else by opening the door and letting it fall to the floor without the spring. If so, what part would that be?
