maytag electric dryer motor wont stay running

I have a 6 cf maytag from 1996. When I push the start button it will start but make a laboring sound then stop if I hold the button for a few seconds it will mostly stay running but will stop maybe in 30 sec or 4 minutes. If it has a load in it thats heavy it may not want to stay running, or it may run 20 min. heat is great. the drive belt is snug and the drum will turn buy hand fairly like it always has. any help appreciated. ( replaced start button with n/c.)

You might need to remove the front panel and check the glides, especially if the drum is hard to turn. t should be easy as pie to turn without any effort.
To get into the machine you take 2 screws out the base and pull the bottom of the panel outwards till it releases from the top. Then you remove the glide shroud and inspect the glides on each side. One of these old maytags I made a video or 2 on what to check and various components:

The motor has run at times. If it was bad would it be an all or none issue, it would be dead. I opened it up and had reseated the connections on the motor start switch( plastic box on the motor) and it did run briefly but then shut off. thanks for the replies

If you have a multimeter and know how to use it you can check for power to the motor when it won't run. If you have power to the motor, but it don't run then you know for sure the problem is with the motor.
