Water in bottom of dishwasher after not being used for two days.

After not using the dishwasher for two days we noticed about a half inch or so of water sitting in the bottom of it.
There was no water in the bottom of it after we took the clean dishes out of it a few days ago.

Sounds to me like the water valve has a faucet type leak.

Is the water valve something I can test to make sure that is it before I replace it with a new one?

Find out inside tub where water comes in, tape a paper towel over the hole. Do not run dishwasher. Check within a couple of days. If wet replace valve. If not check drain hose, make sure loop is as high as dishwasher.

One other thing to check would be to make sure your drain line has a loop in it where it is a little higher than where it drains into the plumbing under the sink. I have seen where sink drain water travels down the dishwasher drain into the dishwasher.

Another thing you could try it to turn the water to the dishwasher off if your not going to use it for a few days
If your dishwasher sits next to the sink chances are the water shut off to the dishwasher is under the sink.

If after a few days of having the water shut off to the dishwasher it's still dry inside then the water inlet valve is at fault and needs to be replaced.
