This problem is with a Whirlpool side by side door fridge with the ice crusher and water dispenser in the freezer door.
I had a problem with the icemaker. Originally I thought the icemaker (
4317943) was faulty, but it now works great. I did all the tests online and on youtube. The problem is that ice is forming on the trough that feeds the water to the ice tray. I clear it out and it happens again, but only once in a while.
Water feeds in fine once the ice is cleared and the icemaker seems to function perfectly.
I'm thinking that the inlet valve is leaking sometimes and probably needs replacing.
There's a water dispenser with this model, so there are two solenoids that release the water. The dispenser works fine. I'm just concerned that I have to replace both solenoids to fix the problem with the leaking of the water into the icemaker.
Anyway, that's the question. Am I correct that this is a solenoid or inlet valve problem? Or could it be something else? Can it be fixed or must I replace the double solenoid piece (
4318046) ?
Thanks for any help.
