Kitchenaid Superba MOD# KAWS850LQ0
Washer will stop halfway through a wash cycle and make a buzzing sound and then quits running.
If you let it sit for a while it will start up again and run fine. It also leaks a little around the pump housing.
The leak is easy to fix but I don't know where to start with the other problem. Maybe the leaky pump is causing the other problem?

Please help

Your motor on this washer has an overload protector. It is heat and current sensitive. It's a safety feature. If your motor is faulty, then it's going to pull excess amps. All excess amps are converted to heat, thus warping the bimetal protector and opening circuit to motor. Once it cools off, it will close and allow motor to run until it overheats again, which in some cases is a very short period of time. You may have a faulty motor.

Does it on other cycles too. I did not wash a rug. Do I need to replace the motor? Thanks.

I would first check to see if something is either clogging the pump or if the motor coupling is messed up.

Isolate your motor from pump and transmission and test. Don't forget to test your capacitor. This a very simple washer to work on. When you remove washer body, simply install a jumper wire on the lid switch and test in spin position. Start capacitor is either on the motor Or located on back panel below water valve. Capacitors are very inexpensive compared to motor. Please let us know how you make out.
