Dishwasher only fills with water and pumps out.

Our GE dishwasher rarely gets used because it's at our lake cabin. It may sit for a weeks or months without being used.

I could hear it filling up with water and then it stopped. After three minutes it drains the water and then refills. Next it didn’t do anything for about eight minutes, but the heating element inside was getting hot. I have tried different cycles and it always just fills and drains.

My wife want to buy a new one, but I would like to fix this one myself if it's going to be cheaper then buying a new one.

GE dishwashers like to seize up if left sitting for too long.  On the back side of the main wash pump, you can see some cooling fins.  Use a screwdriver on the fins to spin the motor and try to break the seals loose.  Try it both directions and it should break loose.

If motor fin does not brake free then replace with seal kit # wd19x10032 and help support this site. Thank you.

It was stuck, if it happens again I will order the seal kit.
