Dryer motor bad?

Whirlpool stack-able washer/dryer combo unit model number LTG5243DQ5
When our dryer is running is makes a continuous low-pitch whining sound. I had a technician come out. He took the belt off and the noise continued when running. He said it's the motor and quoted me $300 to repair.
Is this diagnostic accurate? How expensive and complicated is it to replace the motor myself?

I would make sure it was not something stuck in the blower wheel making the noise before saying it was the motor for sure.
Sometimes you can just tell if its the motor making the noise too when you turn the shaft by hand.
