pbf1951hew making clicking sound and not cooling

Our maytag (pbf1951hew) refrigerator is making a on off clicking sound and not cooling.
I called a local appliance store and they told me the compressor is shorted out and it's not worth repairing.
Would like to get another opinion.

Most likely a faulty compressor relay. Had one this morning doing same thing. Replace relay.

I agree, your model uses relay part # 67005560

The relay is mounted on the side of the compressor and is easy to change.
