Maytag model MSD2554ARW fridge

The ice/water dispenser started acting up today. Light is on, will not shut off, lock is on can not get it off. When I did get it off lock, it dispensed water on its own. Ice dispenser door won't open, but the auger will run when you ask for ice. Nothing appears to be working right. Prior to today everything worked fine. I am guessing some sort of control board?

Dispenser board on this model is known to short out. Take it apart and look at the board.

what is the best way to access this board? Do you remove the inner freezer door, or does it somehow come out the front?

It would come out from the front.

Hi, I put in the new control board part # WPL 61003421 this morning for the ice/water dispenser. I have less control than before, the light immediately came on and will not shut off. I cannot toggle between any of the buttons either. The old board looked fine, but the circuit board backing this one looks to have a funny spot on the soldered area. Previously I had some funny things going on with the dispenser, but everything kind of settled out and just the dispenser door wouldn't open/close. Any ideas?

May want to exchange that new board for another one.
Being the new board makes it act differently from the old board it seems something is just not right with the new board you installed.

Any idea what the other board controls? I am assuming by your response that the other board has nothing to do with my issues?

Between the two boards, I would probably have replaced the one with discoloration first.
