Kenmore front load and epic maytag front load question
« on: July 11, 2012, 09:33:33 AM »
I need some help here...Have a kenmore front load washer ...110.47512600 and a maytag front load washer... mfw9600sq both doing the same thing.  when they stop they both say 1 remaining....customers can't get door open unless they fool with the control panel or unplug it.  No codes on the maytag but a 29 error code on the kenmore which i have looked up.

Wondering whats up with the 1 remaining on the display...any thoughts.

What did the 29 error code on the kenmore mean then?

F 29
 Possible Causes/Procedure
Possible Causes/Procedure
Door lock mechanism is broken.
Door switch/lock unit failure.
1. Check door switch/lock unit for foreign objects.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the door switch/lock
unit and Central Control Unit (CCU).

Checked all of these.

I should have known the F29 error code.  ::)

When you say that you checked, did you unplug all the connections one by one and plug them back in just to see if that made any difference?

I have had door locks check ok too, but ended up replacing them to correct different problems.

OK...the kenmore which is made by whirlpool had two door latches installed by the owner and machine is locking, completing the cycle to the one second mark, stops and will not unlock....have to unlock manually.  No matter what he tries machine will not unlock, he gets F29...after shutting power off he can start a new cycle.

The maytag washer, made by whirlpool, will lock, complete a cycle until the one second mark and won't unlock,,,no error code, drains but no spin...she puts it on drain-spin and everything works until the one second mark and machine won't unlock but if she waits an hour the machine will unlock the door....man I'm so sick of this computerized crap.

I'm going back with door latches and CCU's  and tech sheets for both...no tech sheet in either machine due to other techs not putting them back.

That sounds like a over-sudsing issue. Washer is trying to fix the problem by doing a series of mini washes so therefore when you see it stop and locked it is pausing for the next sampling till it does not get a motor overamp signaling the suds are gone. Are they using HE soap and the correct amount? The F-29 might be caused by cust frustration as a result. How long have they had the machine?

JW...the maytag customer had an extra door latch from a previous repair a few years ago when the repairman replaced it and then found out it was the CCU

I installed the extra latch and tested it a half dozen times and it would latch and unlatch when cycle was cancelled.  Now after about three loads the latch won't open.

I thought the same thing about suds or clogged waterpump.

An update on what I found and didn't find....On the kenmore HE front load, built by whirlpool, I went back with a tech sheet and tried to start a cycle and got the F-29 code after the door locked the first time.  I remembered from a training class that the duet locks then unlocks then locks again before it starts a cycle...some kind of test it does at start up. Having the tech sheet I checked wires leading to door latch with meter....checked door switch and latch lock and unlock coils and everything checked OK.  I installed a new CCU and bingo it ran as it should.

On the Maytag Epic washer I put it in diagnostic mode and everything checked out OK...I took JW's advice and checked pump but it was clear, checked drain hose and it was clear, asked if she was using HE detergent and she said she wasn't.  I advised her to get some...time will tell.
