frigidaire stackable cold water in during hot fill

fex831fs2 is the model number.


this washer has 3 temp settings hot cold and warm.
when i turned it on to fill with hot water the hot water comes on and starts to fill.
after a few minutes, the cold water also comes on for about 3 seconds then off for about 3 seconds until its full.


since the hot water flows at a very low rate here, the end result is luke warm water.


is this normal for this washer?  some sort of energy saving crap or what?

When you select a cold water wash does it also cycle the hot water on and off to mix it?
Off hand it sounds like a energy saving feature.

It only adds cold water to the hot cycle.  doesnt add hot water to the cold cycle.

I think it must be an energy saving feature.  I dont think it would be an issue if his hot water pressure werent so low.  He is in a condo with a main boiler for hot water, so nothing he can do about pressure other than turning the cold water down to match the hot.

I have seen that  "feature" in newer machines.  I pretty sure its an energy saver thing.
