20 year old GE dishwasher leaking

(1/1)

Wedgeman55:
Went into house, older house maybe 60 years old.   Complaint was water coming from dishwasher .   Took off lower access panel,   fired the beast up and water came pouring out of the sump (where the motor connects).    It was odd,  because I never really saw a leak there.    I saw some of the plastic/rubber from the sump laying underneath,   so I told them I would be back with a new sump.
Came back the 2 days later with a sump,  took the panel back off and what did I see.   Holes in the sump still there,  and now there were holes in the motor housing and drain line.   I also noticed that the romex feeding the electric in look chewed.     Told them they would need a new dishwasher,  and I found out the exterminator had caught a Rat the day before I got there.   2 trips,  only charged them a service call.   What a waste of time.   It hadn't occured to me the first time that something chewed the sump.    Something for all to keep in mind.

Dam them dirty rats, lol...
Are you stuck with the part now too?

Wedgeman55:
Part is off the truck, sitting in my shop.   Probably will never use it,  but I had already opened bag and can't take it back.   Oh well,  I'll keep it with all my old belt drive whirlpool parts which I rarely use anymore,  and the old GE Washer parts which I also rarely see in homes anymore.   I still have parts for the Old, Old maytag dryers.   Today I got a call on a DG407-01.  2 belt maytag dryer.  I had the blower for it and the belts.   So who knows,  maybe someday these seldom used, or old parts may find a home someday in the future.
