Frigidaire Electric Range - Loud Pop - Now Nothing

Hello,
Just had a customer call me about her range Model# GLEF379DSK - Frigidaire and she said it all of a sudden made a loud pop sound and the the lights all flashed and then stayed on 8- She then unplugged it and asked me to come look at it in the morning. So, My question is I am thinking the board may have went out or maybe a wire has shorted out. What should my process be to start with and what is the 8 standing for? Thanks for ANY help I can get before I go there in the morning. I am STILL learning and it seems like when you just start feeling comfortable about repairs you get something new thrown at you SO I come to the experts. Thanks In Advance For The Help!!!!!

Remove power and check visually and physically for a burnt spot on bake element. Many times these units will short out and make a very loud noise. If you see nothing obvious check bake unit with ohm meter.  Next turn on at 350 bake and check for  proper voltage. If unit is good and not heating then your problem is a lack or loss of voltage. Find which side is incorrect and trace it back to find the "open circuit" thats causing this problem? On many control boards you will have L1 in and L1 out at bake or broil according to where unit is set. Also some units will have L2 in and L2 out on the control board. Look at your schematic and or wiring diagram. It's a road map that will help you solve this problem.

This control  has 7-segment LED's, and to get all of the segments to light up (number 8 ) you have to feed voltage to each segment individually.  This is controlled by a microcontroller, or a decoder chip.  I'm guessing the board is bad, and maybe an element shorted out and pulled too much current through the board and cooked it.

I could see an incorrect power voltage making the display do weird  things. Check your voltages, and  don't forget to test voltages with respect to ground.
